Fault of Slag Ball Mill and Its Solution

Steel slag ball mill is the necessary equipment in steel slag treatment production line. The slags firstly enter into jaw crusher for primary crushing, and then the size smaller than 10mm are transported to ball mill to grind and classify. During using process, the ball mill is inevitably broken down, we need to solve it timely in case to cause huge economic loss. Here, we will list the main fault of ball mill and its solution.

A. Bearing overheating, shaft liner melting or burn, motor overload

1, Interruption of lubricating oil or too little oil supply. 2, Pollution of lubricating oil or unqualified viscosity. 3,dust or dirt into the bearing. 4, the oil ring does not rotate, with no oil supply. 5, bearing installation is not correct. 6, the clearance between the shaft neck and the bearing bush is too large or too small. 7, the main bearing cooling water is little, or the water temperature is too high. 8, coupling installation is not correct 9, cylinder or drive shaft is bent.

Solution: stop the machine to find out the reason, check the lubrication system; Clean the bearing and replace the lubrication device; Inspect the oil groove, oil ring, scrape the gap between the journal and the bearing bush; Increase cooling water; Adjust the coupling.

B. Vibration and excessive noise of gear and bearing

1,Gear wear is serious. 2, gear meshing is bad, big gear ring jump deviation. 3, bearing bush wear is serious. 4, bearing seat connection bolt is loose. 5, bearing installation is not correct.

Solution: overhaul or replace the gear; Repair the bearing bush; tighten all bolt connections.

C. The ball mill won't start

1, electrical system fault. 2, there are obstacles in the rotating part.

3. Materials and grinding bodies are not removed from the mill machine, and the wet materials become hard. When starting, the grinding bodies will not be dropped, which will increase the motor load.

Solution: overhaul the electrical system; Check and remove obstacles; Remove part of the grinding body from the mill, muddy and loosen the remaining materials.

D. Less grinding amount, low unit production capacity

1, too much or too little feeding. 2, grinding body wear too much or less.  3, lining plate installation direction is wrong.

Solution: adjust the feeding amount to the appropriate degree; the grinding body is added to the mill; Reinstall the lining plate; Readjust abrasive grading.

E. The temperature inside the mill is too high

1, grinding material temperature is too high. 2, barrel cooling is poor. 3, mill ventilation is poor.

Solution: reduce the material temperature; strengthen the cooling of the barrel; Clean vent or grate.

F. Lubrication system oil pressure is too high or too low

1,oil pipe is block. 2, insufficient oil supply. 3, the air inside the oil pump or the oil pipe or leaks oil.

Solution: check and clean the tube; Supplementary of lubricating oil; Repair the broken oil pump.
