Process Flow of the Gangue Crushing System

Coal gangue is a solid waste generated during coal mining and washing, accounting for approximately 20% of raw coal production. Long-term stockpiling not only occupies land but also poses a risk of environmental pollution due to spontaneous combustion and leaching. Now, after specialized crushing, coal gangue can be used in brick making, cement production, road paving, power generation, and the manufacture of high-value-added materials, turning waste into treasure. A complete coal gangue crushing production line typically involves core stages such as coarse crushing, medium and fine crushing, and screening and shaping, using specialized equipment to achieve efficient resource utilization.
1. Coarse Crushing Stage
Large pieces of coal gangue are evenly fed into a jaw crusher via a vibrating feeder. This crusher can break raw materials with a particle size of less than 1500mm to within 300mm. This equipment has a simple structure, strong compressive strength, and is suitable for processing coal gangue with high hardness.
2. Medium and Fine Crushing Stage
The coarsely crushed material is conveyed by a belt conveyor to an impact crusher or cone crusher for further crushing to below 50mm. The impact crusher produces cubical outputs, suitable for brick making, road paving, and other building material applications. The cone crusher is more suitable for fine crushing of high-hardness gangue, offering higher efficiency.
3. Screening and Shaping Stage
The crushed material enters a vibrating screen for classification. Qualified particles (usually ≤5mm) are sent to a sand making machine for further shaping. Larger, unqualified particles are returned to the crusher for reprocessing. For a cleaner finished product, a sand washing machine can be added to remove impurities. For high-moisture, high-viscosity gangue, some production lines use a screenless, two-stage crusher to avoid clogging issues. The output particle size can be controlled below 3mm, meeting the fine requirements of internal combustion brick making.
Crushed coal gangue has a wide range of applications, covering building materials, energy, agriculture, and other fields. In the construction industry, it can replace clay in the production of gangue bricks, which are twice as strong as ordinary clay bricks. It can also be used as a cementitious material and roadbed filler, effectively reducing the consumption of natural sand and gravel. In the energy sector, gangue with a calorific value of over 800 kcal/kg can be used for circulating fluidized bed power generation, with an annual consumption capacity of up to one million tons. In agriculture, after crushing and mixing with nutrient soil and bio-fertilizer, it can be transformed into artificial soil for planting drought-resistant crops such as corn and sorghum, achieving ecological restoration of mining areas.
