Recently, with the last truckload of aggregate dumped into the river, the aggregate making project for the Manan Marsyangdi Hydropower Station in Nepal, undertaken by China Power Construction Corporation's Hydropower Bureau 7, successfully completed its first-phase diversion and closure, and has fully entered the main construction phase.

 

The Marsyangdi cascade hydropower station is a priority project in the China-Nepal power cooperation plan and a landmark project for Sichuan Province, China's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. As Nepal's first basin-wide cascade hydropower project, it is located in the Marsyangdi River basin in Gandaki Province, Nepal. It consists of three interconnected hydropower stations: Manan Marsyangdi, Lower Manan Marsyangdi, and Upper Marsyangdi-2, with a total installed capacity of approximately 600,000 kilowatts, an annual power generation exceeding 3.1 billion kilowatt-hours, and a total investment of approximately US$1.2 billion. The project officially commenced construction on October 22, 2024, adopting a "basin-wide cascade development, integrated construction and operation" model. The first-stage Manan Marsyangdi hydropower station, with an installed capacity of 135,000 kilowatts, is invested in, constructed, and operated by Chinese enterprises.
