What Are the Applications of Gyratory Crusher?

author:dahua2 time:2026-06-04

The gyratory crusher is a large-scale continuous primary crushing equipment, characterized by its ultra-large feed opening diameter, high hourly capacity, and 24-hour uninterrupted operation. It is primarily used in large-scale production lines with capacities exceeding ten million tons. Unlike small and medium-sized jaw crushers, it is suitable for the first crushing stage of large, high-hardness raw ores. Its core applications fall into five main areas:

Applications of Gyratory Crusher

I. Open-pit metal mines (core application scenario)

Ferrous metal mines: Primary crushing of iron ore and manganese ore. Open-pit mines often have large, hard ore blocks; the large feed opening of the gyratory crusher can directly process large blasted ore, and its continuous operation matches the sustained mining pace.

Non-ferrous metal mines: Primary crushing in open-pit mines such as copper, bauxite, gold, and lead-zinc mines, providing qualified raw materials for subsequent semi-autogenous grinding and cone crushing.

Non-metallic mines: Primary crushing in large-scale limestone, dolomite, and silica mines.

II. Large-Scale Sand and Gravel Aggregate Production Base
A green sand and gravel industrial park with a capacity of tens of millions of tons, and a large-scale mechanized sand and gravel plant, using hard rocks such as granite, basalt, and andesite as raw materials;

Supporting stone production lines for national-level infrastructure projects such as highways, high-speed railways, bridges, and airports, ensuring a stable and large-scale supply of concrete aggregates and roadbed stones;

Semi-mobile/fully mobile primary crushing stations provide core equipment for on-site crushing of raw stones at the mine, reducing stone transportation costs.

III. Large-Scale Hydropower and Transportation Infrastructure Projects
Stone processing plants for the construction of large-scale water conservancy projects, highways, and railways. These projects have huge material demands and long construction periods. The continuous high-capacity advantage of gyratory crushers can ensure an uninterrupted supply of stone materials for the projects, suitable for long-term open-air operations.

IV. Metallurgical and Chemical Raw Material Pretreatment
Metallurgical Industry: Primary crushing of large limestone, dolomite, and iron ore in smelter raw material workshops to meet the particle size requirements of blast furnaces and sintering plants;

Chemical Raw Materials: Primary crushing of chemical minerals such as phosphate rock and gypsum ore for flotation and grinding processes.

V. Large-scale Solid Waste Resource Utilization
Large-scale construction waste resource utilization industrial park, processing large concrete and bluestone waste;

Large-scale recycling and crushing of mine tailings and waste rock, processing recycled sand and gravel aggregates, in line with green mining policies.

Supplement: Applicable Operating Conditions

Preferred for gyratory crushers: Production lines with an annual output of 3 million tons or more, raw ore block size ≥800mm, requiring 24-hour continuous production, large open-pit mines;

Not suitable for: Small quarries, small underground mines, production lines with an output of less than one million tons (jaw crushers are mostly used in these scenarios).
