Recently, the main equipment for the sand and gravel aggregate making project of the Gansu Huangcheng Pumped Storage Power Station, undertaken by the Northern Company of the Fourth Hydropower Bureau, has been installed, and the project is awaiting completion. Located in Huangcheng County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, the project involves crushing granite. It is reported that the project has a total investment of 11.3 billion yuan and will install four reversible pump-turbine units with a single unit capacity of 350,000 kilowatts, for a total installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts. Since its commencement in June 2024, the project has overcome adverse factors such as power supply issues and rainy/snowy weather, making every effort to expedite the construction schedule and ensure safety, resulting in accelerated project construction.

According to the plan, initial water storage will begin in April 2029, the first unit will generate electricity on June 30, 2030, and all units will be operational by the end of December 2030, potentially six months ahead of schedule. After completion, the project will generate 1.637 billion kWh of electricity annually, consume 2.183 billion kWh of electricity for pumping, generate 150 million yuan in tax revenue annually, save approximately 856,400 tons of standard coal for the Gansu power grid, reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2.576 million tons, and stimulate the development of local commerce and tourism, promoting overall regional economic development.
