Types of Crushing Equipment for Silica

Silica is a general term for vein quartz, quartzite, and quartz sandstone. It is characterized by high hardness, high melting point, and strong chemical stability. It is mainly used in the metallurgical industry for acidic refractory bricks. After processing, it can also be used as a raw material in glass, ceramics, silicate cement, and ferroalloy smelting. But what kind of crusher is suitable for silica? How much does one cost? Let's take a closer look.
What Kind of Crusher is Suitable for Silica?
Silica, also known as silicon dioxide, has a hardness of about 7 and a compressive strength of 200-300 MPa. The compressive strength varies slightly depending on the region and purity of the silica. It is a high-hardness material. Current industry standards stipulate that silica must not contain waste rock, breccia-like silica, weathered stone, etc., and the surface must not have impurities exceeding 1 mm in thickness. Silica blocks must not contain any harmful inclusions with a diameter greater than 5 mm. Therefore, jaw crushers, cone crushers, and vertical shaft impact crushers are suitable.
Jaw Crusher
Used for coarse and fine crushing, this crusher employs compression crushing technology and optimized motion parameters. Its deep crushing chamber design eliminates dead zones, improving material throughput. Adjustable wedges at the discharge port allow for flexible adjustment of finished particle size, ensuring uniform output particle size. Furthermore, the included flywheel aids in vibration damping, resulting in smoother machine operation. The integrated motor base and main unit simplify installation, save space, and improve site utilization.
Cone Crusher
Used for medium and fine crushing, producing 12 and 13mm gravel. It utilizes a layered crushing chamber and a stable fixed-shaft structure. This design eliminates the need for filling the jaw with material, simplifying maintenance and making replacement easier. Combined with an innovative design featuring a large eccentricity and high oscillation frequency, it can operate at relatively low speeds, effectively controlling product gradation, reducing fine material production, and meeting diverse production needs. The intelligent fully automated control system, coupled with a remote touchscreen interface, not only enhances operational convenience but also strengthens the equipment's safety features.
Vertical Shaft Impact Crusher
Used for medium and fine crushing, it can produce 0.5mm gravel and 0.25-0.5mm silica sand. Utilizing a stone-on-stone or stone-on-iron working mode, a high-speed rotating impeller propels the material into the crushing chamber at high speed. During this process, the material collides, experiences strong friction, and undergoes deep grinding. Through an optimized four-hole impeller design and adjusted impact angle within the crushing chamber, the finished product is relatively fine, often exhibiting a multi-faceted shape with good particle shape. The equipment design takes into account both wear-resistant circumferential plates and the natural crushing characteristics of rock, incorporating a low-loss, high-wear-resistance structural design to effectively reduce wear and thus lower long-term operating maintenance costs.
What's the Price of Silica Crusher?
Currently, the price range for silica crushers is relatively large, generally ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of US dollars. This is mainly due to several factors, including different output requirements, the type and model of equipment selected, the technical configuration, manufacturing process, raw material selection, and overall quality of the equipment. Differences between different manufacturers in these aspects also affect the price. Furthermore, after-sales service, brand influence, and market positioning also determine the price to some extent.
The exact price of a silica crusher depends on the manufacturer's sales manager. You can inquire online for more information and comparison.
