What Are the Differences Between Gyratory Crusher And Cone Crusher?
author:dahua2 time:2026-02-04
In the mining and aggregate processing industry, gyratory crushers and cone crushers are two core types of coarse and fine crushing equipment. Gyratory crushers are designed for large-scale mines and excel at handling oversized materials; cone crushers are more suitable for small to medium-scale production lines and are adept at producing uniform finished product particle sizes. Although both belong to the category of extrusion crushing machinery, they differ significantly in structural design, application scenarios, and performance characteristics.
I. GC Gyratory Crusher
The GC gyratory crusher adopts a heavy-duty alloy cast steel frame, an alloy forged integral shaft, arc gear transmission, and hydraulically adjustable discharge port, with a feed opening size of up to 1525mm. Its unique deep-cavity crushing chamber and large feed opening ensure powerful feeding capacity, high output, and small product particle size, with a processing capacity of up to 2000–8880 tons/hour, suitable for the coarse crushing stage of ultra-large mines. A unique main shaft positioning control system and balance cylinder design ensure automatic adjustment under overload conditions, protecting core components from impact, while a positive pressure dustproof system effectively isolates dust and extends equipment life.
II. GPY Single-Cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher
The GPY single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher adopts a high-strength cast steel frame, an alloy forged main shaft, and a high-precision arc-shaped helical gear transmission structure, combined with multiple cavity selection options and an intelligent operation control system. It is suitable for crushing medium-hard and harder materials. Utilizing the principle of layered crushing, it boasts advantages such as a large crushing ratio, high efficiency, low energy consumption, and uniform product particle size and excellent particle shape. The discharge particle size can be precisely controlled by adjusting the main shaft position via a hydraulic cylinder, with a flexible and adjustable range (discharge particle size 8-83mm) to meet diverse needs. The equipment has a high degree of automation, convenient maintenance, and stable operation.
While gyratory crushers, with their extra-large feed opening and high throughput, are the first choice for coarse crushing in large mines, they require a tall plant and a robust foundation. Cone crushers, with their flexible particle size control and compact structure, are more suitable for small and medium-sized production lines. When selecting a crusher, priority should be given to material hardness, site conditions, and output requirements: choose a gyratory crusher for handling hard, large materials, and choose a cone crusher for those prioritizing finished product particle shape and energy saving.
